The Chosen: Christ alive in our time
Date: Jun 21, 2021
It's nothing like the convention we've come to know... The idea is not about history. It's just about edification. It has everything to do with conversion, and little to do with indoctrination, yet, it goes nowhere against the doctrine - not the basic, not the fringes. It's about the Word - the Word diffusing Himself in the modern times, and peoples and language. To understand, no one needs to know the culture as was practised two millennia ago, as the exegetes would have us do - no. It has everywhere in it, the signature of the Divine. Finally, the media has become that boat that leads us to God. The Spirit, the Holy Spirit is the wind that moves it along the direction He Wishes us to go.
It's not strictly based on the accounts, as we've come to know them; but there have been fill-ins, to fill the cracks and to then smoothen the surface; thanks to the aids of imagination which in turn is a tool made by the Manus Divinae. It cannot be seen as a worldy, or understood from the eyes of the mundane. It can only be enjoyed from a singular perspective - to understand; and understood from a singular view-point - the gospel. In the Chosen, Christ speaks to us afresh, again and again - "follow me" - calling us by name, leading us by hand, smiling over us while we try to hold back the tears, comforting us when we finally let them flow, and then making us relevant again, with the meaning that matters. In the Chosen, the gospel is real again, and ageless, confronting the burning modern issues, answering our hidden questions in the clearest of ways.
But I can't expect it to be perfect, as it's a product of man's imagination, perfect to the degree he has let the Divine in. I only pray that the basic doctrines are not diluted and watered-down; that the hand of the enemy does not succeed in getting close; and that the minds behind the thought remain prayerfully steadfast towards the goal, throughout the duration of its making, as a tool of evangelization - the Chosen...
Deo Gratias! Shabbat Shalom...
